Once a key part of Beaufort’s economy, the menhaden fishing industry shaped local identity and supported families in this historic coastal town. For decades, the silver flash of schooling fish set the pace, as life and labor moved with the tide and shaped the town around it.
This installation—a collaboration between Wyoming-based artist Bland Hoke and Triton International Woods—honors that legacy on the very site where Beaufort Fisheries once stood. Through motion, form, and light, it captures the movement of menhaden fish and the enduring spirit of a working waterfront. Ripples of Industry reminds us that behind every current is a story worth remembering.
